Special Planning Meeting To Be Held, Monday, April 2

  • Re: Garden Walk and Triangle Planting and Maintenance

  • Where: Faye and Ken Ure's house,1609 Freeman Road, 828-0565

  • When: Monday, April 2, 2012, 5:30 p.m.

This is not a general club meeting, but anyone and everyone interested in being involved with the Garden Walk in June and/or with Triangle planting and maintenance should come.

Reminder: The Garden Walk is scheduled for Sunday, June 24, 1-5 p.m. It will take many helpers and committees to pull this off, both leading up to and on the day of the event.

Faye will prepare a light supper for us.... Please drop her an e-mail (fayeken@comcast.net) or give her a call (828-0565) to let her know you are attending so her food preparation isn't just guesswork. But at the same time, if you don't RSVP and find, at the last minute, that you are able to go, don't hesitate to attend.

Also, if you are unable to attend but willing to help with either project, let Faye know.

Pots/Urns

John and Nancy Fuhs have taken the greens out of the pots, and they report that there is plenty of soil in them. So..."Plant at your own risk" seems to be the operative phrase. Normally, we try to have them planted by Mother's Day. So, consult your crystal ball, your almanac, or whatever, and plant at will.

Out and About

Julie Coffin recently received a call from Mary Frances Hochstetler, an organizer of the Coal City Festival. She had seen the ad about our March meeting and thought the club or some of its members might be interested in having a booth at the Coal City Festival. Basically, she's interested in expanding the offerings among the vendors at the Festival. They'd love to have us there simply doing a promotional gardening/informative booth, or a plant sale, or whatever.

Or individual members who do crafts, want to sell plants, etc., would be welcome, too.

Here are the specifics:

  • Date: August 18 (all day)
  • 10 x 20 space: $10 (no water, no electricity, no shade)
  • If interested, contact Mary Frances Hochstetler at 859-4185
